Meet the Dive Arizona Team
A small, family-run dive shop where you get to know everyone.
Small shop, family feel
Dive Arizona is a small, family-run shop in Queen Creek, and we like it that way. Every person on this page was hand-picked for their experience in the water and for how they train divers, so you get to know the whole team instead of meeting someone different every visit. Amanda and Liz own the shop and still teach, and you'll find them at the pool, at the lake, and on our trips right alongside the rest of the crew.
A handful of instructors
You'll know who is teaching you before you walk in, and they'll know your name when you do.
Family-run
Amanda and Liz own the shop and teach, and Liz's husband Kyle is on the instructor team too. Customers keep telling us it feels like family.
Hand-picked
Every instructor was chosen for their experience in the water and their patience with new divers, and each one is someone we'd send our own family to learn from.
The owners
Amanda KrugenSDI Instructor Trainer · TDI Instructor · FRTI Instructor TrainerRead more
Amanda has spent years leading dives everywhere from warm, easy reefs to cold water that keeps you honest. She's based in Queen Creek now, and she's just as happy walking a brand-new diver through their first breaths underwater as she is taking experienced divers out to deeper reefs and old shipwrecks. She knows her marine life, she keeps the mood fun, and she cares about the ocean, so you'll often find her helping with restoration work and dive-site clean-ups and showing divers how to dive without leaving a mark. When she's out of the water she's with her horses, at the range, or behind a camera.

Liz RobinsonSDI Instructor Trainer · FRTI Instructor Trainer · PADI InstructorRead more
Liz got into diving through Amanda. The two were close friends, and one day some dive gear ended up at the house, Liz got curious, and that curiosity turned into a certification. She spent the next few months building up dives at the lake and down in Southern California, fell for the sport hard, and a couple of years later decided she wanted to teach it. She's now an SDI and PADI instructor, and she teaches a range of courses and travels to new dive spots around the world any chance she gets.

Kyle RobinsonSDI Open Water Scuba Diver InstructorRead more
Kyle is married to Liz, so getting pulled into diving was pretty much inevitable. He's leaned all the way in since then, racking up trips well beyond the local sites, with dives in Southern California, Mexico, Bonaire, and Grenada. He went on to earn his Assistant Instructor rating so he can help out underwater, and we're glad to have him on the team.

Ron FlewellenSDI Open Water Scuba Diver InstructorRead more
Ron has guided divers through coral reefs and around old wrecks for years, and he's just as comfortable with a first-timer as he is running someone through their pro-level courses. He stays calm in the water, keeps a close eye on safety, and has a real knack for spotting the sea creatures most people swim right past. Off the clock you'll find him fishing, traveling with his wife, or telling dive stories over tacos at his favorite stops on the road down to San Carlos, Mexico.

Kevin KenworthySDI Course DirectorRead more
A newspaper ad for scuba caught my eye in the fall of 1991, and by 1992 I was a certified Open Water Diver. I fell for the whole thing, the exploration, the easy physical workout, the physiology behind how our bodies handle depth, and most of all the friends you make along the way.

Sarah KesslerSDI Open Water Scuba Diver InstructorRead more
Sarah fell for scuba right away and started diving every chance she got. Over the past few years she's stacked up certifications and logged some memorable trips, from diving wrecks to close shark encounters to exploring new sites on underwater scooters. She learned even more when she took a job at Odysea Aquarium in Scottsdale, and she went on to complete her SDI Instructor Development Course and pass the exam. We're excited to see where she takes it and to get more dives in with her.

Sierra ReidSDI Open Water Scuba Diver InstructorRead more
Sierra got into scuba chasing a dream of swimming with whale sharks. She hasn't crossed that one off yet, but she has dived the Revillagigedo Islands alongside giant manta rays and plenty of sharks. She's also logged Caribbean dives, Florida shark dives, and west coast spots like Catalina Island and San Carlos, Mexico.

May RandelSDI Open Water Scuba Diver InstructorRead more
May was hooked on scuba the moment she got certified and wanted to spend as much time in the water as she could. She started close to home, then branched out to California and San Carlos, earned her SDI Divemaster, and has traveled as far as the Revillagigedo Islands to dive with mantas and sharks. That excitement rubs off on everyone she dives with, and she recently completed and passed her IDC/IEC to become an instructor.

Jeff WalkerSDI Open Water Scuba Diver InstructorRead more
Jeff earned his Open Water certification back in 1986 and logged a handful of dives around Puget Sound before life pulled him elsewhere, into raising a family and building a business. Years later he walked into Dive Arizona and picked the sport right back up. He chased new certifications to rebuild his skills and confidence, worked his way to SDI Divemaster, and then completed his SDI IDC/IEC to earn his Open Water Scuba Diver Instructor rating. These days he loves helping other people learn to dive and see the underwater world for themselves.
