SDI Refresher Course

Scuba Refresher · For Certified Divers · Queen Creek, AZ

Shake off the rust. If it's been a while since your last dive, one pool session with an instructor brings your skills back to muscle memory, from gear setup to buoyancy to emergency drills. You'll need your own mask, fins, boots, and snorkel, and we provide the rest of the rental gear.

Veterans can put their GI Bill toward their training, and families can use ESA or ClassWallet funds. See if you qualify.

SDI Scuba Refresher Course

Skills Tune-Up · For Certified Divers · Pool Session

Diving comes back fast, but that first dive after a long break can feel shaky. If your last dive was a year or three ago, the Refresher Course gets you comfortable again. You spend a session in the pool with an instructor, run through the skills that matter, and walk out ready for your next trip without the first-dive-back nerves.

What you'll cover

This is a hands-on tune-up, not a lecture. You'll rebuild the core skills in the pool with an instructor watching, at whatever pace you need. Most divers are surprised how quickly it all comes back.

  • Setting up and checking your gear
  • Mask and regulator skills
  • Buoyancy control and underwater swimming
  • Emergency procedures and safety drills

Who it's for

This one is for certified divers who've been out of the water for a while, or anyone who wants to knock the rust off before a big trip. If you're certified but rusty, it's the fastest way back to confident.

  • Certified divers (Open Water or higher)
  • Anyone who hasn't dived in a while
  • Divers prepping for an upcoming trip
  • Newer divers who want more practice

✓ What's included

  • The rest of your rental gear: BCD, regulator, and tank
  • An instructor guiding your refresher
  • Pool time to rebuild every core skill
  • A confidence reset before your next dive

What to bring

  • Your own mask, fins, boots, and snorkel (required, we don't rent these)
  • A swimsuit and a towel
  • Your certification card, if you have it handy
  • Any other gear you own and want to dive

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be a certified diver?
Yes. The Refresher is built for divers who already hold an Open Water certification or higher. If you've never been certified, our Try Dive session or Open Water course is the place to start.
What gear do I need to own?
You'll need your own mask, fins, boots, and snorkel, since those are personal-fit items we don't rent. Everything else, like your BCD, regulator, and tank, is included for the session.
How long has it been too long?
There's no hard cutoff. If it's been a year or more, or you just feel rusty, a refresher is a good idea. Plenty of divers do one before every big trip.
How long does it take?
Plan on about a two-hour pool session, enough time to run through every core skill without rushing.
What will we go over?
Gear setup, mask and regulator skills, buoyancy, underwater swimming, and emergency procedures. The fundamentals from your certification, brought back to muscle memory.
Will this re-certify me?
The Refresher is a skills tune-up, not a new certification. Your original certification doesn't expire, and this gets you back to diving it with confidence.
Can I do it before a trip?
Absolutely, and many divers do. Book it a week or two before you travel so everything's fresh when you get in the water.
